Gender differences in self-estimated types of love for self and others

Empirical work about love has primarily considered the of one individual for another. This uses a novel method to study estimated types self and others based on passionate companionate theory, triangular theory. Two hundred fifty participants (161 females 89 males) rated self-estimates other’s estimates (romantic partners parents) global several types. Women self-estimated love, intimacy, commitment more than men did. Gender differences in romantic partners, fathers, mothers were not evidenced. As regards self-partner respondents their similarly themselves. Regarding generational differences, children assessed themselves greater all parents, except commitment. Passionate significantly predicted self, parents. Suggestions limitations are offered.
